A Travel Guide To Lumbini
We warmly welcome you to Lumbini and hope you have a good time here. Lumbini is located in the Rupandehi District of Lumbini Province in Nepal. It is the birthplace of Lord Buddha world's most spiritual person so it's a holy site.
- Getting There:
To get to Lumbini, there are two ways: by flight and by bus. If by flight we should fly from Kathmandu to Bhairahawa then take a bus, taxi, or rickshaw to Lumbini which is about 40 minutes away. If by bus, we should take a bus from Pokhara or Kathmandu and when it stops at Bhairahawa you can ask people way to Lumbini. You can enjoy the beautiful scenery while traveling by bus.
- Accommodation:
After you reach Lumbini, you will find most of the accommodation options located along the single road known as Lumbini Bazar directly opposite to Lumbini Development Zone. Mostly people like to stay in hotels and lounges with quality service like Hotel Peace Palace. Similarly, other facilities like health services and traveling are also available.
- Places to visit:
There are many places to visit. Mayadevi Temple is one of them. Similarly, Mayadevi Pond, Ashoka Pillar, Eternal Peace Pagoda, and World Peace Pagoda are visited by most of them. People mainly come here to meditate under the Bodhi tree and explore Lumbini Museum to see Buddhist manuscripts, artifacts, and pictures.
- Time to visit:
Lumbini has a mild climate throughout the year; neither hot nor cold. So we can visit there any time throughout the year. Spring is considered the best time to visit because many flowers and blossoms are there during that period of time.
- Money:
The currency accepted here is Nepali currency. Foreign currency and traveler cheques can be exchanged in the nearest bank or remittance.
